Betty Asher (Bassoon)
Betty has considerable performing and management experience in teaching bassoon. She taught in Los Angeles and the Bay Area where she is continuing her orchestral activities with the Peninsula Symphony, Nova Vista Symphony and the SF Composer’s Chamber Orchestra. Locally, she plays in chamber music groups and the Camellia Symphony in Sacramento. |
Schell Barkley (Guitar, Bass Guitar, Mandolin)
Schell has been teaching guitar in the Sacramento and Placer County area for over twenty five years. One of the busiest and most popular instructors at McLaughlin’s, Schell specializes in rock, jazz, and blues studies. His creativity and affable personality are two of the main reasons Schell’s schedule is never empty. |
Jeremy Bolt (Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba)
A graduate of Berklee School of Music in jazz composition, conductor, educator, composer and arranger Jeremy Bolt has been instructing privately for over thirteen years, helping student musicians succeed in trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba and French horn performance. Jeremy loves helping young brass players reach their potential. |
Joyce Parks (Cello, Violin, Piano)
Joyce is currently working on her bachelors in music at California State University, Sacramento. She works with the String Project at Sacramento State where young children interact with stringed instruments. She is also proficient with the violin and the piano. Her jovial personality and her warm attitude create a comfortable and a fun environment for the students. |
Glynis Davies (Voice, Piano, Beginning Violin)
Gynis graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies with a concentration in Vocal Performance from CSU Sacramento. She is currently a soprano and vocal soloist in Schola Cantorum in Sacramento, and sings as a freelance musician all over the Sacramento area. She received the Downbeat College Msuic Award for Ourstanding Performance with the Sacramento Sastate Jazz Singers. Glynis's bright and bubbly personality give her lessons a vibrant and exciting learning atmosphere. |
 Phillip DeTore (Percussion)
Professional musician Phillip DeTore is a reputable drummer in Northern California. He currently balances a busy performing schedule with various jazz projects including trios and big bands while continuing his dedication to music education through private instruction in the Placer County area. For the past five years, Phillip has also taught percussion for both Horizon and Vision Charter Schools. |
Jason Galbraith (Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Guitar, Bass, Drums)
Jason is currently pursuing his bachelors of music degree from California State University, Sacramento. He comes to us with several years of teaching experience on a variety of instruments and styles. His education coupled with the practical working knowledge associated with “on the gig” training provides Jason with a broad pallet of experiences to draw from when teaching music to his students. Jason’s friendly outgoing personality and experience is sure to set his students as ease. |
Holly Harrison (Violin, Viola)
Holly received a Bachelors in Music from UC Davis, and a Masters in Viola Performance from CSU Sacramento. She has taught violin and viola in the Sacramento area and has also been a part of many Orchestras and professional performance groups throughout California. She was the Principal Viola in both the Townshend Opera players and the All Hallows Academy and Orchestra. Her love of teachintg allows for an inspiring and educational environment for students of all ages.

Ryan Martell (Guitar, Bass)
Ryan has sixteen years of guitar playing experience He received formal training at local colleges and two years at the Berklee College of Music. Ryan’s kind manner enables him to teach students of all ages and levels. |
Elizabeth McAllister (Clarinet, Saxophone)
Elizabeth holds a B.A. in clarinet performance from CSU Northridge and M.A. from LSU. She currently performs with the Capitol Chamber Players Woodwind Quintet and California Wind Orchestra. Elizabeth’s kind manner and performance experience make her perfect candidate to motivate young students to succeed. |
Emma McAllister (Violin, Viola, Piano)
Emma is currently pursuing her bachelors in violin performance. She is a patient and kind instructor who works well with students of all ages. Emma performs with the Mersonacta Quartet, VITA Academy Orchestra and various other orchestral groups throughout Northern California. In addition to her violin, Emma is also an accomplished pianist. |
Robert Murray (Tuba, Baritone, Trombone, Trumpet)
Robert Murray received his Bachelor’s degree in Tuba Performance from CSU Sacramento. Robert is currently the Principle Tuba for the Folsom Symphony, lead trombone for the Harley White Jr. Orchestra and lead trombone for the Element Brass Band. As well, Robert has won multiple downbeat awards with the Sacramento State Jazz Singers where Robert sung bass and was often a featured soloist. Robert also plays in several professional drum lines (most notably that of the SF 49ers and GS Warriors). In March 2010 Robert became the first tuba player win CSU Sacramento’s concerto competition. Fluent on the classical and jazz Tuba, Trombone, Trumpet, Mellophone, voice Robert has served on the music staffs at various drum corps and high school marching band programs around the state, as well as teaching privately for several years. Robert brings with him, a wide variety of musical knowledge, and provides students of all ages with a positive, encouraging environment. |
Nora Nausbaum (Flute)
Nora has taught flute for 40 years and has her Masters degree from New England Conservatory of Music. She teaches beginners, intermediate and advanced players in a fun, supportive style geared to the individual. |
Angela Roland (Piano)
Earning a Masters in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from California State University Sacramento, Angela is a gifted, caring and above all, a fun instructor for students of all ages. Angela’s musical experience and talents enable her to teach piano students through the advanced level in classical, pop and basic jazz styles. Her kind manner and friendly approach will set even the tentative student at ease.

Tim Stephenson (Percussion, Piano, Voice, Guitar)
Tim is a graduate of CSU Sacramento with a Bachelors in Music Performance. He is a well rounded percussionist versed in classical, jazz, rock, pop, and latin, as well as marching techniques for both drumline and mallets. He is well versed in all styles of piano, jazz and pop vocals, and rock guitar. Tim's passion for music and teaching is evident in his versatility as a musician as well as his enthusiasm with his students. He is always positive and guides his students with patience and humor.

Gaw Vang (Voice, Piano, Brass, Violin, Concert Percussion)
Gaw received her Bachelor's of Music in Jazz Voice Performance from CSU Sacramento. She has taught in various arenas including private lessons, directing for vocal jazz ensembles at Sac State and local high schools, percussion ensemble instruction for high school marching bands, and was the visual music instructor for the Sacramento Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps. She has performed with the Sacramento State Jazz Singers, The award winning Blue Devils A Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Sacramento Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps. Her lively and enthusiastic attitude show through in her teaching and inspires students of all ages to reach their full potential.
