Betty Asher (Bassoon)
Betty has considerable performing and management experience in teaching bassoon. She taught in Los Angeles and the Bay Area where she is continuing her orchestral activities with the Peninsula Symphony, Nova Vista Symphony and the SF Composer’s Chamber Orchestra. Locally, she plays in chamber music groups and the Camellia Symphony in Sacramento. |
 Schell Barkley (Guitar, Bass Guitar, Mandolin)
Schell has been teaching guitar in the Sacramento and Placer County area for over twenty five years. One of the busiest and most popular instructors at McLaughlin’s, Schell specializes in rock, jazz, and blues studies. His creativity and affable personality are two of the main reasons Schell’s schedule is never empty. |
 Joe Berry (Saxophone, Piano, Violin, Guitar)
A McLaughlin success story, Joe is living proof that instruction at McLaughlin Studios, in addition to years of hard work, make a strong musician. A graduate of Berklee School of Music in jazz composition, conductor, educator, composer and arranger Jeremy Bolt has been instructing privately for over thirteen years, helping student musicians succeed in trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba and French horn performance. Jeremy loves helping young brass players reach their potential. |

Graduate of San Diego State University, Regan is currently pursuing his masters degree in jazz performance at Sacramento State University. He has toured nationally and performed with many great artists in the music industry. Regan is a kind hearted individual with a broad background in teaching all levels and styles of music to students of all ages. |

Sarah McQueen Cunningham (Piano, Voice, Jazz Studies, Music Exploration)
Sarah earned her M.A in Jazz Studies and education at Sacramento State University. She is young, vibrant and oooh… so talented. She brings a fun and relaxed spirit to all her student lessons. Sarah is actively involved in music education in the Sacramento area teaching children’s choir as well as performing in nationally recognized vocal jazz groups throughout the country. |
 Phillip DeTore (Percussion)
Professional musician Phillip DeTore is a reputable drummer in Northern California. He currently balances a busy performing schedule with various jazz projects including trios and big bands while continuing his dedication to music education through private instruction in the Placer County area. For the past five years, Phillip has also taught percussion for both Horizon and Vision Charter Schools. |
Jason Fritts (Percussion)
Jason is currently working on his bachelor’s degree as CSU Sacramento. Jason is a passionate, well rounded percussionist having participated in various performing groups throughout California and Oregon including CSU, Fresno Bulldog Marching Band, Santa Clara Vanguard Drum & Bugle Corps, CSU All-State Collegiate Jazz Ensemble as well as many others. Jason’s goal as a percussion instructor is to help drummers cultivate and develop their musical minds while they learn the skills that will enable them to play in numerous and varied musical contexts. |
Jason Galbraith (Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Guitar, Bass, Drums)
Jason is currently pursuing his bachelors of music degree from California State University, Sacramento. He comes to us with several years of teaching experience on a variety of instruments and styles. His education coupled with the practical working knowledge associated with “on the gig” training provides Jason with a broad pallet of experiences to draw from when teaching music to his students. Jason’s friendly outgoing personality and experience is sure to set his students as ease. |

Sam holds a B.A. in Fine Arts – Jazz Performance from the New School University in New York. While at school he had the opportunity to work with and learn from many jazz greats such as Steve Turre and Billy Harper. |
Ryan Martell (Guitar, Bass)
Ryan has sixteen years of guitar playing experience He received formal training at local colleges and two years at the Berklee College of Music. Ryan’s kind manner enables him to teach students of all ages and levels. |
Elizabeth McAllister (Clarinet, Saxophone)
Elizabeth holds a B.A. in clarinet performance from CSU Northridge and M.A. from LSU. She currently performs with the Capitol Chamber Players Woodwind Quintet and California Wind Orchestra. Elizabeth’s kind manner and performance experience make her perfect candidate to motivate young students to succeed. |
Gemma McKinney (Voice)
A Graduate of S.F.State in Vocal Music Education, under the highly regarded tutelage of Dr. J. Habermann, Gemma traveled throughout the world with the SFSU
Chamber Singers. Also a private voice instructor for choral, opera, classical, musical theater and jazz/pop, she is able to work with all age groups. Her teaching approach is catered to each individual musical style and voice. She is vivacious, kind and well-liked by everyone. |
Nora Nausbaum (Flute)
Nora has taught flute for 40 years and has her Masters degree from New England Conservatory of Music. She teaches beginners, intermediate and advanced players in a fun, supportive style geared to the individual. |
Amy Quinney (Piano)
Degrees in music theory and teaching plus experience as an elementary school music instructor qualify Amy to teach piano to students of all ages. Amy is the piano accompanist for the Sierra College Choirs with past experience at the Auburn Girls Chorus and Woodcreek High School. Her positive approach and enthusiasm are a real asset. |

Earning a Masters in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from California State University Sacramento, Angela is a gifted, caring and above all, a fun instructor for students of all ages. Angela’s musical experience and talents enable her to teach piano students through the advanced level in classical, pop and basic jazz styles. Her kind manner and friendly approach will set even the tentative student at ease. |

With her degree in hand and several years of teaching experience, Sarah is back in her home state and ready to teach the next generation of violin students right here in Placer County.
