Summer Dance Camp (4+) All ages Click here to register online   

Session I: Fairytales

Join Aria & Braylin for 4 full days of dance and activities. Fairytales come to life in this exciting week of dancing and fun.Students will learn dance rountines and participate in related activities during camp time. At the end of the camp, students will perform for friends and family. (bring snack daily) Monday - Thursday 9:00am - 12:00pm & 12:30pm-3:30pm June 18 - June 21. Crazy About Dance??? Book both morning and afternoon camps and have lunch with us!

Session II: Where in the World...

Join Aria & Braylin for 4 full days of dance and activities. World Music Explosion. Dance to music from around the world in this exciting week of dancing and fun. Students will learn dance routines and participate in related activites during camp time. At the end of the camp, students will perform for friends and family. Instructors:

Jazz StudiesAria Dreifuss - Aria began her dance training at age 7 with the Redwood Empire Ballet, in Santa Rosa California.   She spent the majority of her adolescent years devoted to improving her ballet technique.  While ballet and pointe are her passion, she has also studied jazz, hip hop and modern dance.  Mentored by Maria Vegh, Margaret Swarthout, and Tamara Statkoun she has a solid dance background and a strong work ethic that she shares with her peers and students.  She has choreographed and assisted in teaching dancers of all ages and technical levels, most recently with the dance students at Sierra College.  She has performed in numerous dance shows, most recently as the Sugar Plum Fairy and Snow Queen in Mclaughlin’s production of “The Nutcracker”.  Her 17 years of experience dancing on pointe and extensive knowledge of body mechanics make her an excellent asset to ballet students who are ready to begin or improve their pointe work.  She is very excited to join the McLaughlin team and share her love of dance with the students.

Jazz StudiesBraylin Woodall - Braylin has fourteen years of dance experience with an enphasis in tap, jazz, hip hop, and contemporary. Her experience has helped her become well versed in serveral different teaching styles and helped broaden her style and technique. Braylin is a graduate of Del Oro High School where she was the captain of the Del Oro High School Varsity Dance Team where she choreographed for performances and showcases they participated in. She has also helped in various dance workshops for children in the Loomis Union School District. She looks forward to furthering her dance education through the college level so she can continue to share her love of dance with others.

Children's "GLEE" Choir Workshop (Ages 8+)    Click here to register online            

 In this Show Choir workshop we'll focus on vocal performance and choreography, using songs from the Hit TV series "Glee" Join us Monday July 23 to see what it's all about! Be ready for intensive singing and dance training in a short amount of time! We hope to extend this class to the Fall and Spring in preparation for public performances! This workshop is open to ANY skill level. Session will be taught by Glynis Davies, professional vocalist and teacher at McLaughlin Studios. Monday – Thursday 10:00am – 2:00pm July 23-26

TimInstructor: Glynis Davies (Voice, Piano, Beginning Violin). Glynis graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies with a concentration in Vocal Performance from CSU Sacramento. She is currently a soprano and vocal soloist in Schola Cantorum in Sacramento, and sings as a freelance musician all over the Sacramento area. She received the Downbeat College Music Award for Outstanding Performance with the Sacramento Sac State Jazz Singers. Glynis's bright and bubbly personality give her lessons a vibrant and exciting learning atmosphere.

Interested in jokes, laughs, comedic sketches? How would you like to take a class that will leave you laughing for more? Come out this summer to Comedy Central and learn the skills you need to become a proper improv artist and comedic actor. We teach you how to pick up on comidic timing, improvisation and much more. Are you a Back Stage Ninja? Would you like to be? THis summer learn the basics of building, designing and creating the magic of theatre from the back stage. Move props, sets and costumes for our shows this summer. Learn the ins and outs of the technical world of theatre through staging, set changes, props, lighting, sound and production development! Friday 3:30pm - 5:30pm June 1 - June 30 (Some Saturdays as well)

OwenInstructor: Owen Smith; Owen is a graduate of CSU Sacramento with a concentration in Theatre Tech and Acting. He knows all of the facets that make up a play. Working in the professional, community and education and volunteer realms of Theatre. He strives for perfection but wants everyone to have a good time and learn along the way. Having started his Theatrical career in high school, Owen has many years of practical Theatrical knowledge and has plenty of answers for your questions. He loves good jokes and laughter.

MTC Mini Musical series is for the young actor interested in a short musical theatre experience. Mini Musicals are a culmination of a condensed childrens book reworked with song and dance to enable each actor to learn what it takes to be on stage. It's fast paced and a lot of fun for everyone. Rehearsals: Friday 4:30pm - 6:30pm July 6 - August 3

RitaInstructor: Zoe Samborsky;Zoe is thrilled to be a part of the McLaughlin Theatre Company. He is currently finishing up her last semester at American River College and preparing to transfer in the fall, she is a double major in Theatre Arts and Human Development. Zoe plans to go into theatre and vocal therapy for special needs children. She currently sings in the ARC Chamber Choir and has been in numerous productions. Two of her favorites are "Peter Pan" and "Annie". Zoe loves acting, singing, and dancing and is so thrilled that she gets to share her passion for theatre!

THis class offers students an opportunity to perform pop music. Songs can e mainstream pop with includes R&B, Alternative, Rock, Country etc. Students will also explore music of past famous pop stars such as The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and more. Class covers singing techniques in various pop styles and includes a live performance...in addition all students will receive a CD of their performance recored live! Monday - Friday 10:00am - 2:00pm July 9 - July 13

Gaw Head ShotInstructor: Gaw Vang. Gaw received her Bachelor's of Music in Jazz Voice Performance from CSU Sacramento. She has taught in various arenas including private lessons, directing for vocal jazz ensembles at Sac State and local high schools, percussion ensemble instruction for high school marching bands, and was the visual music instructor for the Sacramento Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps. She has performed with the Sacramento State Jazz Singers, The award winning Blue Devils A Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Sacramento Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps. Her lively and enthusiastic attitude show through in her teaching and inspires students of all ages to reach their full potential.

Aspiring jazz musician ages 12+ are encouraged to join this one week summer jazz camp. Students learn to play jazz charts, learn to improvise, jam with others and perform for an audience. A summer camp specifically designed for the beginning/intermediate rock musician ages 10+. Your child will put a band together, learn the tunes, jam with others and perform for an audience. TimInstructor: Tim Stephenson; Tim is a graduate of CSU Sacramento with a Bachelors in Music Performance. He is a well rounded percussionist versed in classical, jazz, rock, pop, and latin, as well as marching techniques for both drumline and mallets. He is well versed in all styles of piano, jazz and pop vocals, and rock guitar. Tim's passion for music and teaching is evident in his versatility as a musician as well as his enthusiasm with his students. He is always positive and guides his students with patience and humor.

For students from the age 8, we offer a beginning guitar class to introduce the basics of music and performance. This class is a great introduction to the guitar and prepares the young student for private guitar instruction. Materials will need to be purchased the first day of class. The Ukulele has gone viral. Now's the time to get involved with this incredible instrument. This is a fun class that encourages individuals and families to learn and play together. Class covers basic ukelele chords, vamps, strum patterns and other techniques needed to learn a few songs. Learn to strum then sing along. Thursday 7:00pm - 8:00pm Session 1: June 14 - July 12 Session 2: July 19 - August 16.

SchellInstructor: Schell Barkley; Schell has been teaching guitar in the Sacramento and Placer County area for over twenty five years. One of the busiest and most popular instructors at McLaughlin Studios. Schell specializes in rock, jazz, and blues studies. His creativity and affabile personality are two of the main reasons Schell's schedule is never empty.

RitaInstructor: Jennifer Moore;Jennifer is excited to be teaching at McLaughlin Studios!  She is a professional dancer, singer, and actress who loves to teach and choreograph when not performing in a show.  Some of the professional shows Jennifer has performed in include, A Chorus Line, Nunsense I & II, “Startstruck” and “The Beat Goes On” with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, and Steve Silver’s “Beach Blanket Babylon.”  She was also blessed with the opportunity to create and perform her own show at Dillon’s Cabaret Theater in New York.
Jennifer started dancing at the age of three at Duane Dance Academy in Hayward, CA.  At the age of seven, she moved up and danced under the direction of Coralene Duane.  She was honored to be a part of the Duane Dancers Tap Troop and performed at different venues in San Francisco including the Mark Hopkins Hotel and the World Trade Club in the Ferry Building.  Not only is Jennifer a tapper, but she was also trained in other forms of dance such as ballet, jazz, hip hop, and musical theater.  She started singing at the age of seven in her church choir before taking professional singing lessons with Diana Ryan.  She is looking forward to passing on her knowledge of the industry and is also looking forward to having fun!  See you in class! comedies, dramas and mysteries.
